Financial Aid and Loans

At Duke, we are committed to doing all we can to help you afford your education. There are various types of financial aid available including grants, scholarships and federal loans. You can find a brief explanation of the different types of aid below.

Grants and Scholarships

Grants and scholarships are funds that do not need to be repaid. These funds are applied toward tuition and may be based on need and/or academic achievement.

Employee Benefits

Employee benefits are funds provided to employees of an organization toward tuition. Eligibility is based on employment status.

Loans

Loans are funds made available from the federal government or outside lenders toward tuition and other educational expenses (such as books and living expenses). These funds do need to be repaid with interest, and should be used to meet any remaining shortfall after all other resources have been utilized.
